Film Festival Opening Night Screenings & Dessert Reception
Location
Don't miss the opening night festivities of the Volcan Mountain Foundation's 2nd Annual Julian Wild and Scenic Film Festival on Friday, May 17th starting at 6:30pm for an opportunity to meet some of the extraordinary filmmakers!
Come up and enjoy dinner in Julian, and then meet up at the Film Festival headquarters at Julian High School (1656 Highway 78) for two film showings ($10; Tickets will be available at the door). First up, "One Beach" tells the personal stories of people who are using creativity and innovation to help keep the world’s beaches “barefoot friendly”. Filmmaker/collaborator, Brian Kirby will speak after this screening.
The film screenings will close with a one-time only showing of "A Fierce Green Fire”, the first big-picture exploration of the environmental movement – grassroots and global activism spanning fifty years from conservation to climate change. Directed and written by Mark Kitchell, Academy Award-nominated director of “Berkeley in the Sixties”, and narrated by Robert Redford, Ashley Judd, Van Jones, Isabel Allende and Meryl Streep, the film premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2012, and has won acclaim at festivals around the world.
A dessert reception to discuss the films will end this extraordinary evening! For more information go to: www.JulianFilmFestival.com
