Native Plant Sale & Wildflower Show on Saturday, May 13th from 10am-4pm

Date:
Saturday, May 13, 2017 - 10:00am

Saturday, May 13th from 10am-4pm, the Volcan Mountain Foundation (VMF) will be selling native plants outside of the Julian Town Hall while the Julian Women's Club hosts their Annual Wildflower Show.

You'll find a custom selection of high-quality, and some hard-to-find, native plants especially donated by the Tree of Life Nursery (TOLN) in San Juan Capistrano to help benefit VMF. After you take in the display of native wildflowers inside the Town Hall, you can talk to VMF's native plant experts about what plants would be best suited for your home garden. You can also learn more about native plants at TOLN's website: www.californianativeplants.com

From 1pm-2pm, VMF's own 'Mother Nature', Sharyl Massey, will be giving a presentation on non-native plants and invasive species as part of the Wildflower Show.

Admission is FREE to the public, for the Julian Wildflower Show, which has been an historical event for over 90 years. Because of Julian’s mountain valley location, bordering a national forest and close to the Anza-Borrego State Park, we have 855 species of plants within 25 miles of town, many of which were used by Native Americans. The Wildflower Show is meant to educate club members, local residents, out-of-town visitors and children about the botanical wealth of Julian and its vicinity. The Women's Club invites you to bring the ugliest weeds you can find for the Ugly Weed Contest anytime from Monday, May 8th to Noon on Saturday, May 13th. A winner and prize will be awarded on the afternoon of May 13th.
