Exec Trek to Kanaka Flats, Saturday, October 24th, 8:30 am- Noon

Saturday October 24th, 8:30-noon, please join Trish Boaz, Executive Director of the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy for an Exec Trek at Volcan Mountain in Julian, the headwaters of the San Dieguito River, and the crest of the Coast to Crest Trail. The group will hike around the Kanaka Loop trail through the grassy meadows and oak groves of the Santa Ysabel Preserve-East. Learn about the history, plants and wildlife of the area, and enjoy a view of the coast from atop Kanaka Flats.

Meet at the Santa Ysabel Preserve East-Farmer Road Staging Area (117-411 Farmer Road, Julian, CA 92036) This hike will include an elevation gain and loss of approximately 200 feet in 1/2 mile. The total hike distance will be approximately 5 miles. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed. Please wear appropriate hiking attire, including a hat and light jacket. Bring water and snacks for along the trail. This hike will be canceled if it rains.

The hike — rated “easy to strenuous”— is free. Reservations appreciated.
