The Volcan Mountain Foundation (VMF) is incredibly grateful to have support from a wide range of community partners. VMF is excited to report that another 87 acres of habitat was preserved in December with the closing of two escrows. The 37 acre property with year round headwaters for Santa Ysabel Creek at the end of Farmer Road, and the Gateway to Volcan Mountain, was acquired from the Grand Family. VMF's first plein aire painting event took place on October 22, 2011 when local artists and photographers attended a day on Ferguson Flat, Volcan Mountain, to document its beauty in the autumn light. The artists are laying down the history of the mountain through documenting their experiences there.
The Volcan Mountain Foundation is very fortunate to have many dedicated and amazing volunteers. Our volunteers allow us to reach out to more people, and accomplish more goals. One of those special volunteers, Sheana Fry, was recently featured in the local Julian Journal for her all around community service.
