The Art of Falconry at Santa Ysabel West Preserve

Experience the world's fastest animal, the Peregrine Falcon, in action as he swoops to Cisco's lure from amazing speeds. June Julian Chamber Mixer at VMF's Volcan Mountain Nature Center, Thursday, June 1st, 2017

Thursday, June 1st, from 5:30pm-7:30pm, the Volcan Mountain Foundation will be hosting the Julian Chamber of Commerce monthly mixer at VMF's Volcan Mountain Nature Center.

All are invited to come out to explore the Nature Center, enjoy the evening and mingle with Julian friends and VMF staff and board members. Raffle-door prizes are provided by local merchants to showcase their businesses.

Cheddar & Hard Cheesemaking Class, Sunday, May 28th, 2017

Sunday, May 28th, learn the craft of making hard pressed aged cheeses from our resident cheesemaker, Eric Jones. In this half-day workshop learn all about cheese making, including the chemistry, biology and process that turns milk into the 1,000's of wildly different varieties. Through a detailed demonstration of the Cheddaring process, hands-on activities and yes, cheese tasting, you'll come away with the recipes and knowledge to start making cheese in your own home! Available for 8 participants at $55 per person.

Citizen Science Bird Survey at Volcan Mountain, Thursday, April 20th, 2017

Thursday, April 20th join Volcan Mountain Foundation partners the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy (SDRVC) and Palomar Audubon for a citizen science bird survey on SDRVC's Volcan Mountain parcels near Julian. This is a great opportunity to hone your bird ID skills with experts, learn about our local mountain bird species, and contribute valuable data to the San Dieguito River Park.
