Sat. Oct. 12th - Learn about Julian 'Back in the Day' With County Park Docent & Julian Historical Society President Ed Huffman

County Park Docent and Julian Historical Society President Ed Huffman will discuss the history of the Santa Ysabel Rancho in its early days as a Native American village, Spanish Land Grant with its ties to the Santa Ysabel Mission and 200 year history of cattle ranching. This area was vital to the growth of early San Diego and the whole of California. Come and learn!

3rd Annual Julian Film Festival, May 16th-17th, 2014

The 2014 3rd Annual Julian Wild & Scenic Film Festival is this weekend, Friday, May 16th and Saturday, May 17th, with hikes offered on Sunday, May 18th.  Sponsored by and benefitting the Volcan Mountain Foundation, the two-day festival will offer environmentally-focused films, opportunities to meet with and learn from filmmakers, local food, music and art, discovery hikes on Volcan Mountain, and a beautiful weekend in Julian, California.  Please visit

Sun. Oct 27th - Crafts Under The Oaks: Halloween Crafts

Give new life to paper tubes as “Scary Eyes” just in time for Halloween! Join San Diego County Park staff and learn to recycle “trash” into fun crafts!

Meet at the Santa Ysabel Preserve Staging area on Farmer Road.  The interpretive program is open to all ages and is free to the public.  Inclement weather will cancel the event.  For more information on this San Diego County Parks & Rec event, please contact the local staff office at 760-765-4098.
